Lana woke up warm and cozy and snuggled up tight with Shawn. And all she could think was just how much she wanted him. Right then, all day, no getting up, no work, no nothing.
She nudged him. "Let's call in sick today and stay in bed making love for the entire day. I don't want to go anywhere at all."
She was already reaching for her cell phone to call in and she was pretty sure that even if he hesitated she'd be able to convince him otherwise.

Lana hadn't called Shawn in a few days - there had been a couple of things she wanted to get straightened out first. But since she'd talked to Dr. Lee today and gotten the last of her ducks in a row, she decided it was time to call.
So, this was her calling a certain all-the-way-across-the-country boyfriend.

Some sort of crisis at the LuthorCorp plant had Lex heading off in a hurry. That left Shawn and Lana free to finally escape up to her room in the mansion. She closed and locked the door behind them, then turned and leaned against it, laughing a little. "Oh my God, I'm so sorry, Shawn! I never dreamed this would turn into hours of interrogation!"
It had been a rather surreal Christmas.

Lana was at the small private airport not far from the college ages before Lex's jet was actually supposed to arrive. Not that she was excited about the weekend or anything.
She'd considered having a cup of coffee to give Shawn when he got off, but decided it would probably be cold, given how early she was. Not to mention that with the amenities on the plane any coffee she might bring would have been far outshadowed.

This was it. She was packed and ready to go. Most of her stuff had handwavily been picked up to ship to her new place, the rest was sitting on her newly stripped bed.
Now all that was left was to say her goodbyes and actually leave. That was going to be incredibly hard. She was already a little teary thinking about it.

Packing.
Not really what she wanted to be doing just now. Okay, so she didn't have a lot to do - which was good because she was doing a lot more random staring out the window than anything else.
This was her last night in Fandom. Tomorrow she was on her way to Connecticut to start college and a whole new chapter in her life. It was going to be hard to leave this place behind.

Lana and Lucas had managed to make their way back from Caritas without incident. It didn't take too long for them to get settled and curl up in bed together. It felt good to have someone else there and to know that this time she wasn't just taking comfort, but giving it as well.

Lana knew Ino was right and she was just so tired. She curled up on her bed, lights still blazing, but let herself drift off. Hopefully, she was tired enough that she would have a dreamless sleep.
... She was in a dark room, a morgue. The covered bodies on the table were familiar shapes and she whimpered, knowing what was coming. Body after body of everyone she loved and that voice, always that voice whispering that they were all going to leave her...
She woke herself screaming, forced herself awake, to huddle against the wall and cry. No, no more sleeping tonight.

Lana was ready with snacks (which she didn't really eat), drinks (non-alcoholic), and a ton of movies.
Although Ino had hoped Lana would feel more relaxed and maybe even sleep with someone in the room, when dawn hit, Lana was still awake. She'd come close to dozing off a few times, but had fought her way back up every time.
"We should do this again," Lana said with a smile. "It was much easier to stay up with a friend around."
Ino nodded, grinned, and mentally rolled her eyes. Seriously, geez. Lana had to sleep sometime!

12:10 am - Lana's Room #322: Late Sunday Night [6-22-08]

After a trip to the clinic to check on Lucas, Lana had finally made her way back to her own room. She showered and treated the cuts and bruises she had, tossing back a couple of Tylenol to ward off some of the pain.
Then she made sure every single light source she could find was turned on, grabbed her pillow, a blanket, and a cup of tea and propped herself up in the most defensible corner she could find. After having been attacked and then tortured with nightmares in Hell for the weekend, the last thing she wanted to do was sleep and chance the dreams. She wrapped herself in the blanket, tea by her side and prepared for a very long and wakeful night.
